Aquarius’ Underrated Work Ethic

Aquarians are often praised for their intellectual prowess, and humanitarian values, but not often for their determination and drive. Usually, determination and work ethic are traits that are strictly used to describe earth signs, such as Capricorn. On occasion, it is even suggested that Aquarians lack focus and drive in accomplishing their goals.

This is hardly the case.

Most astrologists minimize Aquarius’ work ethic because of their vast curiosities and fierce independence can sometimes make them underperform, or even insubordinate employees. Because few Aquarians embrace the infamous corporate ladder, it is implied that they lack work ethic altogether. However, Aquarians are quite motivated to work toward their long-term goals, though they prefer to achieve them outside of the rigid structure of institutions.

“Don’t ever let someone tell you, you can’t do something”

A powerful example of Aquarian work-ethic is world-famous stockbroker, investor, and philanthropist, Chris Gardner.

Chris Gardner was born on February 9, 1954, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In addition to being a financial guru, he is a notable motivational speaker and author. If his name sounds familiar to you, it is probably because his story was portrayed by Virgo superstar Will Smith, in the award-winning, 2006 film, “Pursuit of Happyness”. Pursuit, told the story of Gardner’s struggle to raise his son and become a stockbroker while homeless in the early 1980s. The screenplay by Steven Conrad is based on the best-selling memoir of the same name written by Gardner with Quincy Troupe.

Chris was CEO of his own brokerage firm, Gardner Rich & Co, which he founded in 1987, based in Chicago, Illinois until he sold his share in 2006 to found Christopher Gardner International Holdings. In 2012, just before his wife’s death, she challenged him to find true happiness and fulfillment in the remainder of his life. He now travels all over the world 200 days a year as a motivational speaker. Chris has spoken in over 50 countries.

Those familiar with astrology know that sun signs alone do not paint a detailed portrait of anyone’s life. You must review your accurate, completed birth chart to gain a more comprehensive view of your overall makeup — including, how you approach certain areas of your life, handle challenges, and more.

In addition to being an Aquarius sun sign, there are two other placements in Chris Gardner’s birth chart, that undoubtedly aided in his ability to become so successful.

Stable and Stubborn Taurus Moon

The first is his moon sign placement. Moon signs are considered as influential as sun signs in determining our lives. The moon controls our emotions and sensitivities. Gardner has a moon in Taurus. Taurus is fixed energy, and that’s the current of settling in, and fleshing things out. Once Taurus Moon fixates on something — or someone — that goal becomes the stabilizing focus.

This could explain why Chris was able to overcome so many obstacles without changing course in his career aspirations. Case and point: Chris even stayed the course after Black Monday, the historic market crash of 1987, when many stockbrokers and investors became financially bankrupt, and left the industry for good, some even committed suicide.

High Pain Tolerance = Saturn in Scorpio

The second placement boosting Gardner’s determination is his Saturn placement. In our birth charts, traits like work-ethic, discipline, and restraint are controlled by Saturn. Chris’ Saturn placement is ruled by Scorpio.

Scorpios are passionate, known for their mystery, darkness, and devotion. They often represent death and rebirth (transformation) in astrology, so individuals with heavy Scorpio influence will likely experience great loss and a great inheritance.

When Scorpio inhabits Saturn, it brings its intensity, commitment, and confidence to the sign. Saturn in Scorpio is very much about power. This is personal power, not material power, though they often go together, as they did with other powerful men who held this placement: Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg, to name a few!

Overall Positive

These placements certainly helped to shape Chris Gardner’s work ethic. But no matter what our placements are, it is time for the world to recognize that all Aquarians have a unique tenacity it is fueled by our intellect and individualism.

As an air sign, Aquarians’ possess a positive, or masculine polarity (for our purposes, we’ll use the adjective ‘positive.’) That is, Aquarians tend to focus their energies outwardly, they have a need to express themselves that often trumps any fear of judgment. Positive signs are also able to process or move on from emotional experiences more quickly than negative signs, who can have a harder time letting go.

This means Aquarius are less prone to depression, anxiety, and neuroticism than the hard-working signs of the earth element (which holds a negative polarity).

It is critical that an Aquarian identifies the cause or career that best matches their global ideals. Once identified, their positivity and determination will allow them to pursue their goals no matter what external resistance they face.

After all, you can’t bear water without some real muscle. 💪🏽
